Embracing environmental responsibility

Embracing environmental responsibility
As a national home builder, we're Driving change by embracing environmental responsibility. Diverting waste and recycling materials during the build process, building homes with energy-efficient features and forming impactful philanthropic partnerships are some of the many small steps we're taking today to incorporate sustainability at Clayton Home Building Group.®
The way we build
ISO® 14001 certification

ISO® 14001 certification
Building modern manufactured homes in a controlled environment allows us to focus on resource and production efficiencies that can help reduce our environmental impact.
All 40 Clayton Home Building Group home building facilities and 16 supply facilities are ISO® 14001:2015-certified, with established programs to continuously improve environmental performance to reduce waste, water and energy consumption while increasing recycling.
The homes we build
With residential homes generating 20% of US carbon emissions1, building energy-efficient homes is one way Clayton Home Building Group® is committed to Driving change by setting the standard for sustainability.
Energy-efficient eBuilt® homes
Energy-efficient eBuilt® homes
eBuilt homes are the most energy-efficient homes we've ever constructed. Our eBuilt portfolio includes two types of energy-efficient homes:
eBuilt: our new Clayton Built® standard of energy efficiency is built to ENERGY STAR® ready standards in many parts of the country and can help you save up to 30% on annual energy bills.2
eBuilt Plus: save even more with eBuilt Plus. Constructed to the US Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home™ standards, an eBuilt Plus home can help you save up to 50% on energy bills2. And since it’s solar ready, you can add a renewable energy system for even more savings.
ENERGY STAR® certified homes
ENERGY STAR® certified homes
In 2024, Clayton Home Building Group built 35,874 ENERGY STAR® certified homes, which ENERGY STAR® estimates will save Clayton homeowners more than $11.6 million dollars in total utility costs. That's because ENERGY STAR® homes on average are 20 percent more efficient than a traditional home.
And energy efficiency saves more than just money. The environmental impact of these 35,874 homes contributed to more than 114,000 barrels of oil avoided and reduced over 49,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
The future we build
Planting for our future
Planting for our future
We recognize our opportunity to Do good through impactful relationships with philanthropic organizations who share our values of environmental stewardship.
We partner with the Arbor Day Foundation® to help reforestation efforts around the country, planting native species trees in areas that have lost their natural forest cover. According to Arbor Day, these efforts help improve water and air quality, promote biodiversity and combat climate change.
